If you can't attend (sympathies!), check back here anytime on 5-7 July for live streaming of most of the proceedings (courtesy the Knight Foundation). We'll also archive for later download, but try catch the action as it happens. There'll be a live Tweet stream #wjec2 so you can send questions and comments as well.

Networking with global peers on really hot topics at an event with an African flavour.
AND a chance to hear Nobel prize Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu - the closing keynote speaker. And opening the conference will be Advocate Pansy Tlakula, the African Union's Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression.
Plus: Exposure to 130 research papers, whose extended abstracts have been approved by an international panel of peer-review judges. Deadline for final papers was May 10. If your paper was accepted, but you missed this submission deadline, please send asap. Email them to

Celebrating the winner of the prize for the best abstract:
Deborah Wenger is headed to Kariega game reserve
"Help Wanted: an examination of new media skills required by the top US news companies" was declared the best abstract submitted by the WJEC panel of international judges. Deb Wenger - attending WJEC on behalf of her two co-authors Lynn C Owens and Kristene Trever - will take up the prize.
