Non-Anglophones journalist educators' meeting

Written by  Boyomo Assala

A 13-member group of trainers identified by the organisers of the WJEC as non-Anglophones, met in a special panel on Monday morning to discuss their specific problems.

Among the various issues raised during the session was the problem of language, which can be summarised into three points:

•    A sentiment of marginalisation of French-speaking educators by their English-speaking colleagues;
•    The international ignorance or rather non-recognition of the culture and values of non-Anglophones, African and Arabian countries in the implementation of journalism curricula;
•    The worldwide domination of the English language with the risk of isolation of other languages.
